I blinked, and rubbed my eyes. But the harsh sunlight glinting through the green leaves, straight into my eyes, and the weather-beaten murals on the ancient bark of this huge banyan tree, told me this was no hallucination, no trick of the senses.
It was The Sacred Tree
I was staring at, The Tree of Legends. If the Rakyat legends were to be believed, this tree was planted by the first ever Rakyat warrior. Over the ages, the Rakyat tribe built a fortified temple around The Tree.
Suddenly, my mind made the connection. When I had liberated some pirate outposts and handed it over to the Rakyat control, they had jubilantly raised their flag on these outposts. A blue flag, with a white banyan tree in its center. I was now looking at The Sacred Tree, that was origin for the Rakyat symbol!
And it was their pride, as well. The Rakyat still maintain a strong guard of elite warriors to protect The Sacred Tree, it seems.
The question is... what am I doing here, within the Sanctum Sanctorum
of The Rakyat Temple, surrounded by these bloodthirsty, tribal warriors, with a bloody Tatau on my arm?
I think I am going insane...
